LNMU DARBHANGA BA BSC BCOM ADMISSION DATE 2026

The opening of new colleges within Mithila University's jurisdiction has brought the total number of colleges to 111. However, the newly opened 29 colleges will currently offer only six subjects, while the remaining 82 existing colleges will offer the same subjects as in the previous session. For admission to the first semester of the four-year undergraduate program, students must fill out an online application form on the university's official website, lnmu.ac.in. The online form submission process begins on May 20, 2026. The last date for submitting the application form is June 5, 2026, without any fine (late fee). The online application fee is ₹500, which will be the same for all students (all categories are ₹500). The online application form can be filled by June 8, 2026, with a ₹200 fine, which translates to a total application fee of ₹700.

How is admission to graduation done?

1. First, you must apply online. The application form can be filled online from anywhere.
2. When applying, carefully fill in the subject (specially the Major Subject), college, and other information.
3. There is no option to edit (most of the time) the total marks in the form. Pay special attention to your category and marks, as these will determine your merit.
3.1 A provisional List will be published
3.2 Online corrections can be made in the form before the final merit list is released (Major subject or Honours subject will not be changed)
4. The merit list is released online on the university website; you must download the selection letter.
5. If your name appears on the merit list or selection list, you must download the letter and submit it along with all other documents to the college within the date specified by the university.
6. You can take admission in the same college where you were selected; the college cannot be changed.
7. If you fail to take admission in the college on time after being selected in the merit list, your selection will be cancelled; you will not be eligible for admission in the next list.
8. Admission fee will also have to be paid at the time of college admission, this will be the first semester admission fee and can range from Rs 2200 to Rs 3200.

Course Eligibility Criteria
B.Sc. (UG Science) Candidates who have passed Intermediate Science (I.Sc.) or +2 Science Stream of Bihar School Examination Board or equivalent examinations offered by other approved National/State Boards are eligible for admission in UG Science (CBSE, ICSE..).
B.Com. (UG Commerce) Candidates who have passed Intermediate Examination with Arts, Science or Commerce Subjects (I.A./I.Sc./I.Com) or +2 of Bihar School Examination Board or equivalent examination offered by other approved National/State Boards are eligible for admission in UG Commerce.
B.A. (UG Arts) Candidates who have passed Intermediate examination with Arts, Science or Commerce Subjects (I.A./I.Sc./I.Com) or +2 of Bihar School Examination Board or equivalent examination offered by other approved National/State Boards are eligible for admission in UG Arts.

UG 1st Semester College Admission Fee

  • Admission Fee (Semester 1st) - Rs 2255 /-
  • Lab fee (Practical) Rs. 600/- per semester for the subject having practical classes (Science, Geography, Psychology, Home Science, Music, ..)
Note : for Girls of All Categories and Boys and Girls of SC/ST Categories there is no fee i.e admission is free for such students although there may be nominal fee in some colleges around 200-500 depends on the college type 

4 Years UG Course (CBCS) Details

1. In earlier years, admission to graduation level used to be separate in Honours and general course. From the year 2023, the study of general course has been discontinued.

  • For admission to the first semester, each student must select six subjects: Major (MJC), Minor (MIC), Multidisciplinary/Interdisciplinary (MDC/IDC), Ability Enhancement Course (AEC), Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC), and Value-Added Courses (VAC).

2. Now, at the time of filling the online application form for admission to graduation, the candidates will select any one subject of Arts, Commerce / Science Faculty as their Major Subject. In future, after successfully completing the entire course, they will get a degree in the same subject.

3. Apart from this, the candidate who has chosen the Major subject from the same faculty will have to select one subject as Minor Subject and one subject as Interdisciplinary / Multidisciplinary Subject. These subjects will be like the subsidiary subjects of the past.

4. In addition to these subjects, every candidate will have to compulsorily select one subject from three other subject groups AEC, SEC and VAC in the first semester:-

(i) One of the following Modern Indian Languages ​​(MIL) as Ability Enhancement Course (AEC)..
A. Hindi,
B. Urdu
C. English,
D. Maithili and
E. Sanskrit

(II) Any one of the following subjects as Skill Enhancement Course (SEC):-
A. Basic IT Tools,
B. Creative Writing,
C. Communication in Everyday Life, and
D. Digital Marketing

(III) Any one of the following subjects as Value Added Course (VAC):-
A. Ethics and Culture,
B. Swachh Bharat

There will be paper of AEC, SEC, and VAC in second and third semester but the options in them will be different from the first semester (there will be no VAC paper in third semester)

Can Complete Graduation In 3 years 

In case a student wishes to discontinue or withdraw from studies after completing three years (6 semesters), he/she will be awarded a Bachelor degree (BA/BSc/BCom Degree) provided he/she has successfully completed all the papers of all the three years.

why 4 years Graduation ?

  • After completing four years (8 semesters), they will be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Honours (For Honours degree and admission to 4th year, minimum CGPA of 4.5 taken together from 3 years results is required.)
  •  There will also be an Honors with Research degree (this is optional). The fourth year will be mainly for research-based education, but only those students will be able to get admission in this course who have obtained a minimum of 7.5 CGPA in the last 6 semesters (3 years).
  • After 4 years of graduation, an honours degree will be awarded but students who want to go for research option will get an honours with research degree. For such candidates, the option of admission in postgraduate studies or going directly into research will be open after the fourth year of graduation. 
  • For the candidates who complete the four-year bachelor's course, the postgraduate course will be of one year i.e. two semesters only. But for the students who obtain graduation degree in three years, the post-graduation course will be of two years i.e. four semesters.
