LNMU PHD ADMISSION TEST (PAT )
Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU), Darbhanga's PhD Admission Test will be held on January 10, 2026. The university has released the PAT 2024 schedule on November 24, 2025. Every year an entrance exam is taken for admission (in different Subjects) in PhD in Mithila University in which a written test and an interview is taken. some candidates having NET/GATE/JRF/University teaching or non-teaching staffs, LNMU PAT Qualified, etc. are exempted from the written test. Eligible candidates can give the exam by filling the online form on official website lnmu.ac.in.

- Paper 1 Subject : Qualitative Teaching and Research Aptitude
- Paper 2 Subject : the subject you have chosen
- and a Interview after Qualifying in Test (Marks - 20 -As per the results of 2021-22)
Eligibility :
- candidate seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme should have a Master's Degree with at least 55% Marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in the subject/ in allied subject from a recognized University. There is news of giving opportunity to PG final semester students from this year as well (we will have to wait for the official notice to confirm this)
- A relaxation of 5% of marks i.e. from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/BC/EBC/Differently-abled categories of candidates.
Exemption from PAT :
- candidate who has passed NET/JRF/BET/PAT-(Qualified Previously) of LNMU and/ or has secured grants for research such as fellowship/ scholarships offered by DBT/ICMR/ICAR/DST/CSSIR/ICHR etc. will be exempted from Ph.D. Admission Test.
- Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor who have been appointed on a substantive post in the UGC Pay scale in the teaching Department of the University or a Constituent College of this University, who have completed their probation successfully, with an experience of at least of two years of uninterrupted service would be exempted from the written Test. Teachers appointed in self finance Courses and teachers belonging to those colleges running on a self-finance basis will not be exempted from the Test.
- Non-teaching employees of this University, who are holding substantive appointments for more than five years and have secured at least 55% mar.ks in Master's Degree in the subject concerned, and who have published at least two research papers in any reputed referred journals or journals identified by the UGC would also be exempted from the written Test.
- Note: 01. Candidates exempted from PAT-2024 are also required to apply online with requisite fee.
- Note: 02: Candidates of exempted categories will have to appear directly before the interview board as per schedule to be published later, along with candidates who qualify PAT-2024.
- 50% for Unreserved Category (of aggregate marks)
- 45% for Reserved Category (of aggregate marks)
- Paper 1 : 100 Marks (Full MARKS) - MCQs (Objective type)
- Paper 2 : Shall consists of 9 Subjective questions in the subject concerned, based on the syllabus of the Post Graduate (PG) course of Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga.

- Type B: 3 questions of 10 marks each, total 30 marks
- Type C: 2 questions of 25 marks each, total 50 marks
