4 Years UG Course (CBCS) Details

1. In earlier years, admission to graduation level used to be separate in prestige and general course. From the year 2023, the study of general course has been discontinued.

2. Now, at the time of filling the online application form for admission to graduation, the candidates will select any one subject of Arts, Commerce / Science Faculty as their Major Subject. In future, after successfully completing the entire course, they will get a prestige degree in the same subject.

3. Apart from this, the candidate who has chosen the Major subject from the same faculty will have to select one subject as Minor Subject and one subject as Interdisciplinary / Multidisciplinary Subject. These subjects will be like the subsidiary subjects of the past.

4. In addition to these subjects, every candidate will have to compulsorily select one subject from three other subject groups AEC, SEC and VAC in the first semester:-

(i) One of the following Modern Indian Languages (MIL) as Ability Enhancement Course (AEC)..
  • A. Hindi,
  • B. Urdu
  • C. English,
  • D. Maithili and
  • E. Sanskrit
(II) Any one of the following subjects as Skill Enhancement Course (SEC):-

  • C. Fit India, and
  • D. Gandhi and Education
There will be paper of AEC, SEC, and VAC in second and third semester but the options in them will be different from the first semester (there will be no VAC paper in third semester)

CBCS System :

The entire course will be credit based. The concept of credit indicates the importance of a particular paper in the entire course. One credit means one class of one hour per week in theoretical papers. One credit means one class of two hours per week in practical papers. Thus, if a theoretical paper is of 3 credits, it means three classes of one hour per week, i.e. 3 classes x 15 weeks (one semester means 90 working days i.e. 15 weeks) = 45 classes per semester. The entire four-year undergraduate course will be of 160 credits, and each semester will be of 20 credits.

This Curriculum and Credit Framework prepared under the National Education Policy will provide an innovative and flexible higher education system for the students, under which multiple entry-exit and re-entry options are allowed for the students.

After completing one year (2 semesters), if the student wishes to discontinue or abandon his studies, then he will be awarded an undergraduate certificate provided he has successfully completed a vocational course of four credits during the summer vacation of that year.

After completing two years (4 semesters), if the student wishes to discontinue or abandon his studies, then he will be awarded an undergraduate Diploma provided he has successfully completed a vocational course of four credits during the summer vacation of that year.

Can Complete Graduation In 3 years

In case a student wishes to discontinue or withdraw from studies after completing three years (6 semesters), he/she will be awarded a Bachelor of Honours degree (BA/BSc/BCom Honours) provided he/she has successfully completed all the papers of all the three years.

why 4 years Graduation ?

After completing four years (8 semesters), they will be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Honours with Research (BA/BSc /BCom Honours with Research). The fourth year will be mainly for research-based education, but only those students will be able to get admission in this course who have obtained a minimum of 7.5 CGPA in the last 6 semesters.

In this new system, candidates who want to get only a bachelor's degree can get a Bachelor of Honours (BA/BSc/BCom Honours) degree in 6 semesters i.e. 3 years, provided they have successfully completed the course of the desired credits and have obtained the required marks for it. The option of four-year bachelor's course is only for those candidates who want to get a degree with honours as well as research (Honours with Research). For such candidates, the option of admission in postgraduate studies or going directly into research will be open after the fourth year of graduation.

For the candidates who complete the four-year bachelor's course, the postgraduate course will be of one year i.e. two semesters only. But for the students who obtain graduation degree in three years, the post-graduation course will be of two years i.e. four semesters.

How long will the registration be valid or the maximum time to complete the course

Students who have left their studies after completing their first, second and third year of studies can resume their studies anytime within the next three years. They will have to complete their studies from first semester to eighth semester in a maximum of seven years, otherwise their enrollment will be terminated.

Examinations

There will be a mid-semester test in the form of internal examination (CIA) in each paper; and after the end of the semester, there will be a university level written examination (ESE). Students will have to pass the internal and university level examinations separately. To pass any paper, candidates will have to obtain a minimum of 45 percent marks.

Admission

The selection list for admission will be issued by the university. At the time of admission, the college administration will accept the admission only after verifying the records of each student and being satisfied.

If any correction is required in the entries filled by the students at the time of applying online, except for the Major Subject, then the college will do the correction at its own level and make the corresponding entry on its dashboard.
