   GROUP – A

2. Describe the structure of a typical chromosome. What are the chromatic materials of the chromosomes ?

3. Differentiate between the following :

a)       (A) Chromonema between chromatid

b)      (B) Metacentric and Telocentric Chromosome

c)      (C)  Metaphase and Anaphase

d)      (D) Centromere and Telomere

e)      ( E) Paranemic and Plectonemic coils

4.  Describe the different sub-stages of the 1^st prophase of meosis with suitable diagrams. Point out the significance of meiosis.

5. Give and account of ultrastructure of Mitochondria and also point out its function.

6. Describe ultrastructure of eukaryotic plant-cell by mean of well-labelled diagram only.

    GROUP – B

7. Define Mutation. Discuss the role of mutation in crop improvement .

8. Define cytoplasmic inheritance. How can you say that a particular inheritance is cytoplasmic and not genetic ? Give some examples in support of your answer.

9. Describe the different theories of mechanism of crossing-over and its significance.

10. What is plant-breeding? What are aims and objectives of plant-breeding ?
